You ExploreWe Support

We are not a voluntourism company. You will not be handed a paintbrush and asked to do a job a trained local professional should be paid to do. What we do instead is pay people properly: local guides, the hotels and lodges we use, and the veterinary teams who lead our community outreach days are hired and paid, not volunteered.

Threaded Expeditions gives to a small number of organizations we believe in, and we state the amounts rather than calling it a percentage.

Where it goes

Colombia: Andes & Amazon

Your booking pays local guides, Colombian-owned lodges, and the veterinary team who lead our community outreach day in a Ticuna community. We are finalizing a Colombian conservation partner for this departure and will publish the amount here once the agreement is signed.

Organizations we support

Gray Muzzle Society

A Colorado rescue for senior and special needs animals. Molly's Menagerie is their farm animal sanctuary; the Operation Amazonas Fund supports veterinary care in the Colombian Amazon.

Jeffco Open Space Foundation

Preserves open space, trails, and parks across Jefferson County, including the trails our goat hikes use.

American Indian College Fund

Supports Native students and the tribal colleges they attend. Denver-based and consistently top-rated by independent charity evaluators.

How we decide who to support

We look for organizations working in or near the places we travel, run by people who live there, with transparent financials and specific fundable work rather than general appeals.

Transparency and disclosures

We are connected to Gray Muzzle Society. It was co-founded by Threaded Expeditions' owner, Kayson, who sits on its board and recuses himself from any board vote concerning Threaded. His wife Molly is its Executive Director.
