Hi, I'm Kayson.
My background in animal care and conservation education shapes how I plan every Threaded Expeditions trip.
Why I started Threaded Expeditions
The name Threaded Expeditions comes from how I think about travel. Wildlife, conservation, local communities, and the people who come on a trip are all connected. Weaving Adventure With Purpose is the short version.
I started Threaded Expeditions because I love to travel, and I love the people I meet while traveling. Wildlife is usually a big part of my trips too.
At the same time, travel raises difficult ethical questions. There are carbon emissions, exploitation, colonialism, bad wildlife tourism, and the question of who actually benefits when we show up somewhere with money to spend. I don't think there is a perfectly ethical way to travel. I do think we can pay attention and make better choices.
For me, that is especially important with wildlife. I want to see animals in the wild, and I want the money I spend doing it to support conservation and the people who live alongside them.
I knew other travelers cared about those questions too.
In February 2026, I led my first small-group trip to the Colombian Amazon. By the time I got home, I knew I wanted to do it again.
